Originally shown on early Georgia maps as “Yellow Land Creek”, a translation from the Creek Indian name - Fokelani. Today, Yellow Dirt is associated more with the location of Plant Wansley, Georgia Power’s 1957 Megawatt fossil fuel power plant on the Chattahoochee River. Yellow Dirt Creek is the primary water course draining the rural south Carroll land between the communities of Lowell and Roopville, merging with Milligan Creek before joining with the Chattahoochee on the Georgia Power plant property.

Bordered entirely on its west by Yellow Dirt Creek, this property has 1.4 miles of beautiful creek frontage and numerous building sites. Sixty-three percent of the property is in valuable pine plantation, the remaining 59 acres are mature hardwood stream buffers along Yellow Dirt Creek.
